Services for International Students
The Office of International Student
Services supervises orientation,
visa and employment information,
personal counseling, and hosts
social and cultural activities.
Technology
During the 2012–13 academic year
all new undergraduate freshman
and transfer students received the
new iPad. Our high-tech campus
includes more than 500 computers
for student use, free wireless Internet
and email accounts, laboratories for
music, multimedia arts and computer
science, and networked “smart
classrooms.”
Degree Programs
More than 100 undergraduate
degree programs in Accountancy,
Business, Education, Health
Professions, Computer Science,
Liberal Arts and Sciences, Health
Care and Public Administration, and
Visual and Performing Arts. Students
can prepare for further education in
Medicine or Law, or one of several
accelerated programs that enable
you to complete a bachelor degree
and a master’s degree in five years.
Campus Life
LIU Post offers students a rich and
vibrant campus life, with more than
80 clubs and organizations presenting
over 500 cultural and entertainment

Center includes a fitness center,
basketball courts, swimming pool,
aerobics classes, racquetball courts
and an indoor jogging track. The
campus also features a respected
performing arts center, an art museum
and business suites. The B. Davis
Schwartz Memorial Library is one of
the largest research libraries in the
northeastern US. There are horse
stables offering riding classes, and a
free shuttle bus to the local railroad,
supermarket, and mall.
LIU Post offers eight residence halls
with traditional- and suite-style rooms;
an ‘intensified study’ residence hall for
quiet time 24 hours a day; and a yearround
residence hall for students who
plan to remain on-campus between
semesters.

Founded in 1876, the University
of Northern Iowa (UNI) is a
comprehensive public liberal arts
institution with over 12,000 students
from 43 US states and 60 countries.
Although UNI is a medium-size
university, it has a small-school
atmosphere in a friendly community.
UNI was named one of the 50 safest
campuses in the U.S. in a recent
study. The 900-acre park-like campus
features more than 65 major buildings
within a 10-minute walking distance of
each other, including eight computer
labs, 12 residence facilities, and
academic buildings with the latest
technology and equipment.
UNI offers excellent graduate and
undergraduate programs and has
been ranked second by U.S. News &
World Report among Midwest regional
public universities and was selected
as a “Best Business School” by The
Princeton Review. The university
has also ranked as one of the “Top
100 Values” and recognized for high
graduation rates. The most popular

UNI offers small classes taught by

The UNI International Services Office
assists students in their transition to
campus from their home countries
including a week-long orientation,
immigration advising, personal advising
and counseling, and special programs
and activities planned throughout the
year. Other opportunities include the
International Student Association,
International Friendship Program,
and the Culture and Intensive English
Program.

Credits and Scholarships
Up to 33 hours of credit exemptions/
advanced standing credit will be
offered. Academic scholarships range
between $1,000—$14,000 per year
for students with strong academic
backgrounds, English proficiency, and
extra-curricular activities.
