Automatic data exchange <strong>CICS</strong> Clients provide a mechanism to enable<br />

automatic data exchange between desktop<br />

applications (for example, a spreadsheet) and data in<br />

a <strong>CICS</strong> for AIX server.<br />

Platform advantages Workstation clients provide you <strong>with</strong> the advantages<br />

of the platform on which they run, that is,<br />

development tools, modern workstation interfaces<br />

(GUI, multimedia), and low cost.<br />

Autoinstall <strong>CICS</strong> for AIX servers can autoinstall client<br />

connections and terminals. This capability greatly<br />

eases your systems management.<br />

Novell networks In addition to IBM networks, you can use networks<br />

running Novell Netware for APPC-attached clients.<br />

Local printers You can use local printers attached to desktop<br />

workstations to print output sent from <strong>CICS</strong> for AIX<br />

server applications.<br />

Security <strong>CICS</strong> Clients provide userid and password security<br />

features.<br />

NLS With national language support (NLS), your end users<br />

can receive <strong>CICS</strong> Client messages in their native<br />

language. <strong>The</strong> national languages currently<br />

supported by both <strong>CICS</strong> for AIX and <strong>CICS</strong> Clients are<br />

U.S. English, French, German, Italian, Spanish,<br />

Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese. (<strong>CICS</strong><br />

Client for Macintosh does not support Japanese,<br />

Korean, or simplified Chinese.)<br />

Workstation customization You can customize the colors of your <strong>CICS</strong> Client<br />

terminal emulator and remap your keyboard layout.<br />

Distribution of clients On a distributed network you can install multiple<br />

copies of the <strong>CICS</strong> Client for OS/2 and <strong>CICS</strong> Client for<br />

Windows onto many workstations using a distributed<br />

management product, for example, IBM′s NetView<br />

Distribution Manager (NetView DM).<br />
