covered with three squares, the jewels <strong>of</strong> our<br />

three ancient Grand Masters; and from this<br />

circumstance, we supposed it to be the long-lost<br />

Master Mason's word; and, on applying our Key<br />

to it, it proved our suspicions to be correct. It is<br />

the name <strong>of</strong> Deity in three languages, viz.,<br />

Chaldaic, Hebrew, and Syriac, which is the longlost<br />

Master Mason's word, or Logos, and has now<br />

become the Grand Omnific Royal Arch word.<br />

It is the divine Logos, or Word, to which<br />

reference is had in John (i. 1-5):<br />

"In the beginning was the word (Logos), and the<br />

word was with God, and the word was God; the<br />

same was in the beginning with God: all things<br />

were made by him, and without him was not any<br />

thing made that was made; in him was life, and<br />

the life was the light <strong>of</strong> men: and the light shineth<br />

in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it<br />

not."<br />

This word was anciently written only in these<br />

sacred characters, and thus preserved from one<br />

generation to another. It was lost by the death <strong>of</strong><br />

Hiram Abiff, was found again at the building <strong>of</strong><br />

the Temple, and will now be given to you; and<br />

you will re-member the manner you receive it,<br />

and that you have sworn never to give it to others<br />

except in that particular manner.<br />

The candidates, instructed by the Principal<br />

Sojourner, now learn the Grand Omnific Royal<br />

Arch Word, as follows:<br />

Each one takes hold with his right hand <strong>of</strong> the<br />

right wrist <strong>of</strong> his companion on the left, and with<br />

his left hand takes hold <strong>of</strong> the left wrist <strong>of</strong> his<br />

companion on the right. Each one then
