This lough is higher than Lough Slat and was surrounded by bog ra<strong>the</strong>r than grassland. There were occasional areas<br />

of grass mainly associated with amenity areas but nothing was found.<br />

Not an easy square. Many of <strong>the</strong> fields around Brandon Point are fertilised or very wet. The dunes are intensively farmed<br />

right up to <strong>the</strong> foredunes. Some of <strong>the</strong> higher fields above Stradbally village may be <strong>the</strong> best hope.<br />

The dunes in <strong>the</strong> Barrack area of this dune system are ei<strong>the</strong>r deep thick marram grass or part of <strong>the</strong> Barrack golf<br />

course. The restricted fungi interest was found in <strong>the</strong> rough at <strong>the</strong> edges of <strong>the</strong> fairways but was restricted.<br />
