“Specific indications: Hypertension with myocardial weakness…” (BHMA 1983, p. 75).<br />
Writing about the use of the herbal remedy Hawthorn in 1907, Jernigan, stated that the herb<br />
acted upon the heart via the central nervous system, where its activity in the patient resulted in a<br />
condition where: ”All his gloomy forebodings are gone, and he feels that he has a new lease of<br />
life” (Jernigan 1907, p. 4).<br />
“Cardiac weakness, with valvular murmurs… especially when associated with nerve depression<br />
or neurasthenia” (Felter 1922, p. 130).<br />
“Cardiac tonic trophorestorative” (Priest & Priest 1983, p. 90).<br />
