TherearemoreexactfiguresandstatisticsthatcanbeobtainedfromtheClientdatabaseonwhich<br />
all assistance and numbers are recorded. But it cannot be underestimated how important the<br />
positivebenefitsofaprivatesupportsessionaretotheclient,iftheabovefiguresareanindication.<br />
Supportsessionshavedroppedfrom8,15minutesessionsperERdayto45,hourlongsessions<br />
per ER day. This is to ease the load on the Support Worker and to allow for a more in depth<br />
discussion.<br />

With the new guidelines it is anticipated that the ER Service will re visit holding support<br />
groups/morningteaswithClients,thethemesbeingbudgets,recipes,Foodcents,handyhintsetc.<br />
Withthehopeofencouragingclientstobeinvolvedandcontributetheirownknowledgeandgifts.<br />
Askingforhelpisnoteasybutitcanbethroughthesimpleactoflisteningthatthepowertochange<br />
canbeginanditisinthisonethingthattheERServicehopesitwillbeabletocontinuetoofferour<br />

FamilyInterventionService<br />
The purpose of the Family Intervention Service is to support clients of the Department of<br />
Communities (Child Safety Services) where ongoing intervention with a family is required. The<br />
principalaimsoftheprogramistopreservefamilieswhereachildremainslivingathomeunderthe<br />
ongoing interventionand monitoringbyChildSafetyServicesandassist inthe reunificationof the<br />
childwiththeirfamilyfromanoutofhomecareplacementwhereitisdeterminedtobeinthebest<br />
interestsofthechild.<br />

The Family Intervention Service also aim to prevent families from reentering the child protection<br />
systemorhelpfamiliesexitthesystembybuildingstrongerattachmentbetweenthechildandparent<br />
and strengthening the caring and parenting skills of the caregivers and their participation in<br />
communitylife.<br />

This program works collaboratively with families, children, Child Safety Service Centres, informal<br />
supportsandothersupportservicestoensurecaseplangoalsandcaseplanreviewsforchildrenare<br />
met.
