Outcomes<br />
Thisprogramhassuccessfullysupported21familieson‘lowband’funding.Inthepast12months<br />
two (2)families have exited the Family Support Program as both children turned 18. The Family<br />
SupportProgramisnowintheprocessofrecruitingtwonewfamilieswithaviewtoprovidingthem<br />
a clear understanding of the process and procedures involved to meet with guidelines as set out by<br />
DisabilityServicesQueensland.Thesefamilieslivein:2familiesinGoondiwindi6familiesintheSt.<br />
Georgearea,5familiesinRomaand1familyinChinchilla,1 familyinInjune,1familyinMiles, 1<br />
familyinMeandarra.FamilyPlans/SupportPlansarecompletedwiththefamiliesinJanuaryforthe<br />
January–JuneandinJulyfortheJuly–Decemberyear.Plansareabletoberewrittentomeetnew<br />
andoremergencydemandswithinthefamilyaroundthechildwithadisability.Thisprogramcan<br />
support families by purchasing items which will assist them in caring for their child with the<br />
disability.Allfamiliesaregratefulandappreciateofsupportthisprogramcanofferbothfinancially<br />
andemotionally.<br />

advocatefortheclientifneededhowevertheiraimistoincreasetheclientsskillsandknowledgeso<br />
thattheyareempoweredtodealwithanyfutureissuesindependently.TheToowoombaprogram<br />
coversToowoombaandtheSouthern<strong>Downs</strong>districts,theRomaprogramcoversRoma,StGeorge<br />
andCharleville.thisprogramisopentoallcommunitymembers.<br />

KeyDevelopmentsin2010/2011<br />
The Toowoomba program is extremely busy and we are unable to meet the demand for<br />
appointments,weconstantlyhavea3weekwaitinglist.Thisyear208clientsweresupportedinthe<br />
program. The impact from the floods in Toowoomba and South West has further increased the<br />
demandforthisservice.Someofthereasonsforthisisthatpeopleintheseareashavesuffered<br />
lossofjobs/income,andlossofhousingandpossessions.<br />
<br />
The Roma program has been given a further 3 years funding. This allows us to establish a strong<br />
network in these three communities and support clients in rural areas with face to face<br />
appointments.TheRomaprogramsupported49clientsthisyear.
