<br />
TheDalby Rural Family Support Service covers 28 school districts in an area that includesthe<br />
entirety of the previous Dalby Town area, and parts of the previous Wambo, Rosalie, and<br />
Toowoombashires.Thisserviceoffersanopportunityforfamilies,withchildrenunder18years,at<br />
riskofengagementwiththeDepartmentofChildSafetytotakeupinformation,skillsenhancement<br />
andsupporttoimproveanddevelopparentingstrengths.<br />

WedonottakereferralsfromtheDepartmentofChildSafetyforFamilieswhoareunderanyorders<br />
fromthatdepartmenteithervoluntaryorenforced.Thefundingagreementforthisprogramstates<br />
thatamaximumof16casesaretobemanagedatanytime.Withtheexpectationthatclientswillbe<br />
exitedfromtheprogramwithin6mths.<br />

Wehopetoimprovethestrengthswithinfamiliestoensurepositiveoutcomesforthechildrenand<br />
theirparents.Weofferastrengthsbasedapproachedthatamongothertoolsusesthestrategiesas<br />
definedbytheParentsUnderPressureProgram.<br />

ThechangesthatarebeingimposedbytheDeptofCommunitieswiththeServicemovingtoan<br />
outputbasedfundedservice,andthepossibleimpactontravelcostandtimeallowed.<br />
Abilitytobeflexibletomeetthechangingneedsofruralcommunities.<br />

theprofileoftheserviceresultinginmorereferralsandcommunityawareness.<br />
AcloserconnectionwithmembersoftheindigenouscommunityinDalby.<br />
SucceedinginselfdirectionintheabsenceofaTeamLeader.Servicesweredeliveredto13<br />
clients/quarter.Someoftheseareongoingclients.6clientshavebeenexitedfromtheservice<br />
withthemajorityoftheirneedsbeingmet.<br />
Therearecurrently13familiesengagedwiththeservice,4arenewclients.<br />
The opportunity to engage with and be supervised by other cliniciansin the absence of a<br />
supervisor.
