A savings limit of over £16,000
for Pension Credit may also be
introduced.
Because Child Tax Credit is
also being abolished, Pension
Credit will include additional
amounts if you have
dependent children.
From October 2014 for new
claimants, and between 2014
and 2017 for those already
receiving Housing Benefit, a
new housing credit will be
introduced to help with rent.
Because Housing Benefit is
being replaced by Universal
Credit, Pension Credit itself
will change.
Changes to Pension Credit
*Pension Credit age means
the age at which you can
claim Pension Credit. Contact
the Pension Service on
0800 99 1234 for more
information.
• You are working in a low
paid job and over Pension
Credit age*, you will no
longer be able to claim
Working Tax Credit and
instead may have to claim
Universal Credit.
• You have dependent
children living with you
as Child Tax Credit will be
abolished and help will be
provided in the form of
Universal or Pension Credit
You may also be affected if:
In this case, you may have to
claim Universal Credit.
However if you become
pensionable age after October
2013 but your partner is not,
you may still be seen as being
a ‘working age’ couple.
in your claim after which the
new rules may apply.
