Composition and Procedural Matters for Glover’s <strong>Reef</strong> <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Reserve</strong><br />
Advisory Committees<br />
A Committee should consist of one or more representative(s) of the following organizations<br />
or interest groups:<br />
1) Local Town or Village Council/<strong>Plan</strong>ning Committees<br />
2) Relevant fishermen’s co-operatives<br />
3) BTIA Chapter/Tourist Guide Association/local tourism operators<br />
4) CZMAI<br />
5) Fisheries Department.<br />
6) Forest Department.<br />
7) Protected Area Manager<br />
8) Funding Agencies<br />
9) Relevant NGOs<br />
10) Academic/Educational institutions involved<br />
11) Other enforcement agencies as necessary<br />
(NB. The composition of the committee has been amended, 2007)<br />
Procedural Matters<br />
The Committee should consist of about 10-12 members. Members should be free to send<br />
an alternative representative to meetings in their place but should provide authorization in<br />
any voting matters. A Chairperson and Secretary (perhaps the manager of the protected<br />
area) should be chosen. The name of the Committee, length of term of office for members,<br />
details of re-election, size of quorum, frequency of meetings and other procedural matters<br />
should be determined by the Committee, in consultation with the responsible management<br />
authority.<br />
