Glovers Reef Marine Reserve – Management Plan
The Caribbean Reef Shark has been identified as a conservation target for a number of reasons - its role as a top predator that
spends its entire life in the Atoll area, migrating seasonally (May) to feed on spawning snappers. It utilizes both the outer reef
and near shore pelagic zone; with large sub-adults/adults confined to outside Atoll, and juveniles recorded both inside & out.
Preferred Habitats:
Forereef with dense massive & encrusting corals,
Forereef with sparse massive & encrusting corals,
Low relief spur & grove
Deep reef/wall/escarpment,
Reef channels
Dense patch reef,
Diffuse patch reef,
Reef crest
Shallow lagoon sea grass are considered marginal habitats
