Intervals <strong>of</strong> a .Third: major and minor. Exercises.<br />

The interval <strong>of</strong> a third is that which comprises three successive<br />

degrees <strong>of</strong> the scale. If the three degrees do not include a semitone,<br />

the third is a major third.<br />

Example :<br />

If they contain a semitone, the third is minor.<br />

All the exercises on the intervals should be sol-faed until the<br />

pupils are pr<strong>of</strong>icient in passing from one to another without<br />

any mistake or hesitancy; they can then be vocalised in the<br />

manner indicated above.<br />
