RACE 7 SCRATCH TIME CHANGES
Taras Jet, D. McNair to Ph. Hudon
Rub N Tug, S. Filion to S. Zeron
St Lads Pepper, D. McNair to Ra. Waples
7th Race Selections by K.C.M. THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
5 WARRAWEE LIMELIGHT had top billing last time and will get another chance with the same status in this spot. This one of those races where
anything might happen depending on racing luck and/or the driver strategies. Filion will stay with this gal rather than try for the double with Rub N
Tug. Only a slight preference.
6 BRUSHSTROKES gets to drop down into a lower classification tonight. That change can only help her chances as she looks to rebound following
a poor result on April 5 when she beat only one rival. I’m thinking that she can make the necessary improvement to be a player in this spot and will
her as my runner-up choice.
8 MY GAL MATTIE is due to win again at any time. She’s produced more than one upset in the past and they seem to come without a strong hint in
a previous race that it might happen that way. Keith Oliver knows her well from past experience. If she’s got the goods to beat them all he can
make it work.
3 STAGE IT RIGHT had a license to win last time with the class drop. My strategy was to wait for one more race but that obviously failed. Won’t
say that she cannot double up but cannot say that she will. If Zeron has her fired up it only takes a bit of racing luck to put her into the thick of
things. Maybe?
THE FOLLOWING LISTED IN POST POSITION ORDER
Race 7: Driver/Trainer Combination
Horse # Driver Trainer Starts Win % R.O.I.
1 Ph Hudon C Matthews 2 100% $18.05
2 S Zeron Da Brown 7 0% $0.00
3 Ri Zeron Ri Zeron 230 10% $1.12
4 J Jamieson J Gillis 297 19% $1.21
9 Ra Waples B Wallace 160 13% $1.50
(1) TARAS JET steps up a rung on the class ladder into what should be a tougher situation for her. The last race victory was her first of the year in
eight tries.
(2) RUB N TUG raced like a supposed to win item last time with a quick start and then a suck along trip in the second position to help her out.
Tonight the racing luck might not be as good. She might play a role in either the triactor or the superfecta.
(4) SMASHBOX scares me the most of those that were rated lower than the top four. She has more than one positive angle in her profile. She has
two preps after time off and a favourable post position. The class drop also helps.
(7) EAT ME UP has off the shelf status and might need one race before she’s ready to be asked for maximum speed would be my guess. If she is
ready to go Luc will give her a good chance to show her best stuff.
(9) ST LADS PEEPER ended up with Waples to drive. McNair chose to stick with Brushstrokes. This is her second start in a comeback. Maybe I’ll
watch one more.
