RACE 8 SCRATCH TIME CHANGES
None
8th Race Selections by K.C.M. THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
5 ST LADS KINGPIN gets the top of the list rating. Let’s see if we can click with an upset winner from trainer Carmen Auciello. This pacer did win
in a $10,000 claimer at this track in March and that score was made at a longshot price of 13-1. So, if he were to beat them all tonight it wouldn’t be
the first time.
8 JAC SPADE can put another top three result on his resume if the driving strategy is suitable. Racing from too far back might not work to perfection
again. Zeron is the leading driver but not every one of his drives is golden. I rated it as a toss up when considering the two slot. I’d have to
recommend that you consider one or two other options for the same position if playing the single race wagers.
7 SHELBYS COBRA is a price boosting option that I am going to insert into my top three. He moves back into the claiming ranks tonight with a
lower price tag this time. His trainer can be dangerous on occasion. We’ve seen some upset winners from him over the years. Let’s see what he
looks like prior to the race.
6 SHIPPS XPECTANCY has been mostly consistent over the last little while. Only one race in four was a failure and that in a race following a
qualifier. McMaster goes back to Davis as his driving partner tonight. That change shouldn’t hurt his chances. He’ll complete my list of top four
prospects.
THE FOLLOWING LISTED IN POST POSITION ORDER
Race 8: Driver/Trainer Combination
8 S Zeron C Campbell 6 33% $1.83
9 Ra Waples M Herlihy 3 0% $0.00
(1) DARK PRINCE has me thinking that he might pull off an upset one night sometime soon. I chose to pass tonight but I will be looking for a
situation to use him in the top spot sometime very soon.
(2) WINDSUN THUNDER is a for sale item now. That change in his profile might help to make him a more competitive pacer than he has been
recently. Make a guess.
(3) PRINCE OF PLEASURE finished on the edges in two previous tries at this track. He has some longshot possibility if you want to consider a high
risk approach in return for a bigger payoff than what many of the others will offer.
(5) LOST IN PANSLATION was not going to race in both races on March 24 and 25. A trip to Buffalo was cancelled. I’m going to leave him out of
my top four in move that might backfire.
(9) SHADOW BARAN has to do his work from the outside post. The decision to cut his claiming value by a third might help to offset that handicap.
He’s not unplayable.
