Fly to Ouagadougou
Caravans of musicians travel and perform from
Mali and Algeria though Mauritania, Algiers, Niger
and Burkina Faso. Embracing the nomadic tradition
of the south-western Sahara the Caravans of Artists
for Peace and National Unity will meet in Oursi,
Burkina-Faso, north-east of Ouagodougou for
concerts on 20, 21 and 22 February.

sud-occidental, les Caravanes des Artistes
pour la Paix et l’Unité Nationale se sont donné
rendez-vous à Oursi, au Burkina-Faso, au
nord-est de Ouagadougou pour une série de
concerts conjoints, les 20, 21 et 22 février –
et ce après des spectacles individuels au
Niger et en Algérie.
In het spoor van de nomaden uit het
zuidwesten van de Sahara, geven de
zogeheten Caravans of Artists for
Peace and National Unity op 20, 21
en 22 februari een gezamenlijk
concert in Oursi, Burkina Faso, ten
noordoosten van Ougadougou.
Eerder traden ze ieder al apart op in
Niger en Algerije.

Voodoo is a religion in Benin with 60% of the
population devoted to it. Since 1997 followers
gather at Ouidah to be blessed by the city’s voodoo
chief, who sacrifices a goat as an offering to the
spirits, marking the beginning of celebrations. Join
the crowd of tourists and watch devotees in animal
skins chanting and dancing to drumbeats.
Au Bénin, le Vaudou est une religion pratiquée par 60%
de la population. Depuis 1997, les fidèles se réunissent
à Ouidah pour recevoir la bénédiction du chef vaudou
de la ville. Ce jour-là, il sacrifie une chèvre en offrande
aux esprits, marquant le début des célébrations.
Rejoignez la foule des touristes et assistez au spectacle
des dévots revêtus de peaux d’animaux, en train de
chanter et danser aux rythmes des tambours.
In Benin wijdt 60% van de bevolking zich aan
voodoo. Sinds 1997 verzamelen de aanhangers
in Ouidah, waar ze gezegend worden door het
voodoohoofd van de stad. Bij aanvang van de
viering offert hij een geit als geschenk aan de
geesten. Ontdek samen met tal van toeristen
hoe de gelovigen, gehuld in dierenhuiden,
zingen en dansen op de beats van de
trommels.
