• Ongoing development and maintenance <strong>of</strong> strong<br />
ties in the tourism community, including<br />
representation on the Ottawa Tourism and<br />
Convention Authority Board <strong>of</strong> Directors, which<br />
reinforces the CMCC’s presence and pr<strong>of</strong>ile in the<br />
local tourism community.<br />
• A special reception at the <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Civilization</strong> for over 100 key tourism personnel in<br />
the region, to better familiarize them with the<br />
<strong>Museum</strong>’s <strong>of</strong>ferings. Other initiatives included<br />
inviting all accommodation partners to special<br />
events and exhibit openings, this in an effort to<br />
strengthen relations as well as secure additional<br />
exposure and promotion <strong>of</strong> the CMCC.<br />

Public Affairs<br />
• Welcoming <strong>of</strong> over 700 people in more than 50<br />
familiarization tours <strong>of</strong> the CMC — most <strong>of</strong> them<br />
key group tour operators and travel agents,<br />
including representatives <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Canadian</strong> Tourism<br />
Commission, Ontario Tourism and Tourism<br />
Quebec.<br />
• The CMC’s contribution to the local tourism<br />
community and the local economy was formally<br />
recognized by having been chosen as a finalist in<br />
the “Large Company <strong>of</strong> the Year” category for the<br />
OTCA Tourism Awards. In addition, the CMC was<br />
the recipient <strong>of</strong> the Gold Medal for “Grande<br />
Entreprise Publique” for the Outaouais region in<br />
the prestigious Grands Prix du Tourisme, and won<br />
the Bronze Medal for the entire province <strong>of</strong><br />
Quebec.
