Paper: Bamboo fiber has been using in making paper in China since early time. A high quality handmade paper is still produced in small quantities. Coarse bamboo paper is still used to make sprit money in Chinese community. Bamboo pulp is mainly made in China, India, Thailand and are used in printing and writing paper. The most common bamboo species used for paper are “DENDROCALAMUS ASPER” $ “BAMBOO BLUEMANEA” It is possible to make dissolving pulp from bamboo. The average fibre length is similar to hardwoods. The Process- To increase the resistance power of the bamboo, it is dried in the hot sun for several days as it contain moisture in it. To increase the durability of the product the bamboo has to pass through several process which makes it resistance to insect & moist weather. 2.2 Methodology The present diagnostic study has been carried out in 5 villages of Sipajhar in Darrang Dist. The survey is carried out in the overall study of the Bamboo Cluster of Sipajhar. As per the requirement of the study data's have been collected from the artisans. An intensive introduction with the villagers has been done to get a better idea of the product and their way of production. A group discussion with the head of the community members & the local NGO’s also gave an idea about the present condition of the villagers. Some data’s are also collected from various government publication, census report, dist. developing plan etc. these report help in identifying the activity of government in the development of the artisans. Data’s & information has been gathered regarding the applications of tools for manufacturing their products. It is found that the artisans use the traditional tools & machineries for their products.
