4th Race Selections by K.C.M. THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
3 POPPYS LUCKY BOY is hopefully going to offer a fair price. I’m going to use the class change angle as a positive factor and try for what should
be an upset in round one of the early pick 4 wager. He won two in a row in February in age restricted claimers when his base value (before
allowances) was at $15,000 and then $20,000.
6 HIGHLAND BOREAS moves back into the claiming ranks for this try. That change might help to make him more competitive than he has been in
recent races. He was one of three options that Zeron could choose from. Some handicappers/bettors will play along with the decision that he
makes. He’s worth looking at if the price is suitable.
2 CREIGHTON HANOVER produced 1-2 finishes for this same trainer just recently. His one try for the previous trainer ended in failure. The racing
style was aggressive when a change in ownership was announced. Tonight he might be quick to regain better form with a different trainer/driver
team.
5 ABBYS LUCK tries to double up tonight after a last race victory over Flamboro Downs rivals. Moving to Woodbine will make it more difficult for
him but not impossible. Puddy runs hot and cold and so do some of his pupils. On a best night he might be good enough to finish in the top three or
four.
THE FOLLOWING LISTED IN POST POSITION ORDER
(1) J RS HURRICANE has been on the shelf for a short period of time. That might be reason enough to give him a pass tonight and wait until his
profile includes the result from this race.
(4) BLUE SKY AGAIN steps up into a higher level claiming category. This event is age restricted. He faces only 4 year olds tonight. Christoforou
was the first choice driver but he also had the option to choose Nbr 7 if he preferred that rival.
(7) P L FASTSTRIKE looks like a risky proposition again with recent results not very impressive. A while back he was second best at this level.
Both trainer and driver are capable of surprising.
(8) GUINESS SEELSTER hasn’t had any major success this year after only two starts. I’m going to take a cautious approach and watch at least
one more.
(9) ALWAYS AN OPTIMIST gives you the often dangerous team of Filion and Moreau to consider. That alone should get him some wagering
support. I chose to rate him lower than the top four.
(10) JUSTA CAMILION had poor luck in the draw again. That will make it difficult for him. The move to the claiming ranks might help his cause.
Luc drives. He might consider driving more aggressively than many of our every night drivers do when post 10 is part of the profile.
