5th Race Selections by K.C.M. THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
4 SELFISH PRINCESS has a risky looking profile but if the price is right you might want to consider her as a back up for use in the pick 4 strategy.
Unfortunately the opportunity to give her the once over just prior to the race is not available except for use in the single race wagers. She’s good
enough if all is right with her.
7 APOLLO BLUE CHIP is the like race favourite. I’m going to try to beat him for the top spot and hope that we see an upset result by my risky top
selection. Zeron once again had a choice to make. He was listed on both this trotter and Big Payout. Fine, if he has some luck, could win a couple
of races during the first half of tonight’s program.
8 HERES THE MAGIC moved to Flamboro for a try last time. He’s won at this track this year and might be set up to double the win production
tonight. He has in the past raced on or near the lead and had good results with that style. I’m going to have to rate him as one of my top three
candidates for the win.
10 PAIGING KADABRA is usually in the background during the early stages of the race. His chances are often compromised by a slow start. He
does have a fairly good closing kick that works well enough when he can work his way into contention soon enough. Waples has to help if given the
opportunity to advance in the middle half.
THE FOLLOWING LISTED IN POST POSITION ORDER
(1) BIG PAYOUT sent some bettors home happy when he scored for a 43-1 upset not too long ago. Three follow ups against non claiming rivals
produced mixed results. This might be a night when he can win again. Beware!
(2) ROLANDS SEEHORSE races for a reduced claiming price tonight. That change moves him to an inside position for this try. I can give him a
chance to finish as part of the triactor or the superfecta combination but didn’t list him as one of my candidates for the win.
(3) RATE EXCHANGE pushed over the $400,000 mark in career earnings when he won on March 22 in a lower price claimer. McNair drove that
night and he’s back for another try. A maybe vote is the best that I can do.
(5) CADILLAC CRUISER could only be given upset status. I thought that others looked like more promising prospects to consider when guessing
about possible winners.
(6) NORTHERN VICTORY had a good enough qualifier on April 29 to suggest that he might do better than this rating suggests. He has a
dangerous trainer and with Filion listed to drive that adds more appeal to the profile.
(9) GUNGA WIN has yet to produce a finish better than third with Zeron as his trainer. One night he will pop with an improved performance but it
might be difficult to make the prediction when it happens.
