1st Race Selections by K.C.M. Friday May 3, 2013 THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
8 MOTOWN MUSCLE is going to be overlooked by some handicappers since she is a first timer for the year. I’m guessing that we should be a fair
price and will gamble that Baillargeon might have her ready to go at first asking. He’s capable of doing that. I’ll be more confident if we see a quick
start than I would be if she races from far back in the order.
3 CHARMED LIFE had good to go status when she won in her 2013 debut on April 25. She and my top selection are both gearing up for the O.S.S.
schedule that will start in June for the 3 year old filly trot division. The first grass roots event is slated for June 20 (Moh) and the gold event follows
four days later at the same track. She’s worth considering.
7 SEE R CHIN WIN beat all but the winner last time with a good performance that boosted her top three average for the year to .500. She’s been a
consistent money maker all year. Much will depend on how well Davis can play the hand that is dealt him. A bit of racing luck would help the cause if
he can catch a break or two as the race unfolds.
1 WINDSONG INVINCEBL had his string of runner-up results halted last time when the best he could do was finish in the fourth position. We can
guess that he might regain top three status but there are others that look quite interesting. I wouldn’t want to make any guarantees that he will play
a role in the winning triactor combination.
THE FOLLOWING LISTED IN POST POSITION ORDER
(2) TYMAL TEXTME had a successful follow up immediately following a longshot score that he produced on April 18. It is possible that his mini
streak of top three finishes will continue. We have lots of options to consider in tonight’s opener when guessing the triactor combination.
(4) WEDGEWOOD looks to make a successful transition out of the claiming ranks tonight and to keep his win streak alive. If he does better than I
am suggesting it won’t be a big shocker.
(5) WINDSONG IDOL was considered when I was looking for an upset candidate to use in the top spot. I might still have to consider as a backup
option for a play in the win position if the odds are healthy.
(6) HES A LINDY has the Allard factor to consider. His profile also includes excuses that could be used to forgive the two recent failures.
Baillargeon was the first choice driver but he will choose to stick with Motown Muscle to keep his services in the family.
(9) NORTHERN KENDRA had little to offer in her 2013 debut on April 28. I can’t recommend her with any high level of confidence in this test.
Maybe next time.
(10) KENNEL BUDDY scored for an 11-1 upset last time in his first try of the year in Ontario. A double is possible but the move to post 10 along
with a change in classification might make it more difficult.
