CoLOLR :<br />

Light red clay uilli traces of yellow paint and parliclcs of gold hère and ibere;<br />

ihe yellow was probably a ground for gilding.<br />

OnNAMEMATioN : Tlie body is divided vcrtically by Iwo broad biuids in ndief reaching<br />

from the foot of tiie handies to the iower part of the body, which is on the same<br />

plane wilh them; their edges are serraled. On each side of body, between thèse<br />

bands, two Erotes, wlnged and naked, standing to front, slightly turned towards<br />

each other, and holding up a large fillet between iheni; above, ihree festooned<br />

wrcaths, wilh fillels, reaching from handle to handle. On side of horizontal part of<br />

handle a small rectangle incised, with incisions inside, apparently an imitation of an<br />

amphora-stanip.<br />

Technique : Moulded in Iwo parts. The Erotes on the Iwo sides seem to be idenlical<br />

and to be derived from the same origimd. The vertical bands wilh serrated edges<br />

mark the line of joining and bave been smoothed down.<br />

Préservation : One<br />

handle and top of neck broken oiV; slight incrustation in places.<br />

26275. Small jug with ornamentation in relief. — Heiglil m. 10 cent.<br />
