LUDWIG MÚZEUM
Dóra Maurer
Anna Bálványos et al.
Dóra Maurer has been one of the most dominant figures of Hungarian
art. Only two Hungarian artists were invited to the 12th Istanbul
Biennale and one of them was Dóra Maurer. She was presented as
one of the solo exhibitors. She works in several fields: beside her
paintings she has produced graphics, photographs, films, collages
and installations. Her entire oeuvre is a logical, consistent course of
thought, but without a trace of predictability, and that is what makes
it so exciting. The catalogue was published on the occasion of Dóra
Maurer's retrospective exhibition, Concise Oeuvre at the Ludwig
Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art, Budapest, in 2008.
Attila Csörgő: Archimedean Point
Michael Harrison et al.
Attila Csörgő is one of the best-known young Hungarian artists. His
work has featured in many international exhibitions and art fairs. In
1999, he represented Hungary at the nation's pavilion at the Venice
Biennale; in 2001 he was awarded the Munkácsy Prize; he participated
at the Istanbul Biennale in 2003, and the Biennale of Sydney in 2008.
He also acquired acknowledgement in MUDAM Luxembourg, Museé
d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean and in the Hamburger Kunsthalle
with his exhibition Archimedean Point. He often creates and visualizes
motions and phenomena that are imperceptible for the human eye,
objects and materials that he places in unusual situations. This
volume presents both the individual stages of the experiment and its
conceptual background, attempting to create a space of interpretation
between the work and viewer that facilitates reception.
