Crusaders Claim Class A Soccer Title<br />
The Crusaders took the Class A state soccer title after their 1-0 win over Lincoln Southeast on<br />
May 14, 2012, at Creighton University’s Morrison Stadium. This is the eleventh state title for the<br />
Crusaders, who shut out 17 opponents during an outstanding 19-1 season.<br />
<strong>Marian</strong> Takes Gold at National Choral Festival in Dallas<br />
<strong>Marian</strong>’s Select Women’s Choir and Chamber Choir traveled to Dallas, Texas, in March to<br />
compete in the National Heritage/World Strides Choral Festival. Both choirs received 1st place,<br />
making them eligible to compete in the invitation-only Festival of Gold Tournament next year.<br />

<strong>Marian</strong>’s speech team competed in the NSAA State Speech Championship held in Kearney,<br />
NE, where they placed 5th overall in Class A. The tournament was comprised of nearly 1,000<br />
Nebraska high school students that compete annually in the association's second largest state<br />
championship event. Six members of <strong>Marian</strong>’s speech team advanced to nationals and competed<br />
at the National Catholic Forensic League Grand Tournament held in Baltimore, Maryland. Ty<br />
o’neal ‘12 was the only student from Omaha to advance to the quarterfinals, where she placed<br />
20th in the nation! “These girls rank among the best in the state and nation and are able to utilize<br />
their public speaking skills for the rest of their lives,” head speech coach Luke Ostrander stated.<br />
Nelsen Claims Singles Title<br />

Congressional Art Competition<br />
annie Townley ‘12 was congratulated for her winning<br />
artwork by Congressman Lee Terry.<br />
Annie’s pencil self portrait will hang in the Washington<br />
office for the entire year.<br />

Congressional Art Competition for District 2 in<br />
Nebraska. Her artwork also received a gold key,<br />
the highest rating in the 2012 Scholastic Art and<br />
