International Innovation Research at the ICE Conference In June 2012 the 18th annual International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation was held at MUAS. In addition to three days of sharing the latest research on innovation and technology management, the SCE entrepreneurship Center at MUAS announced a new research partnership. From 18 to 20 June 2012 MUAS hosted the 18th annual ICE, the International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation. The slogan for the threeday conference was “Innovation Through Collaboration and Entrepreneurial Partnerships”, at which the latest research findings in the fields of innovation and technology management, engineering, entrepreneurship, and virtual enterprises were presented to a multi-disciplinary audience and discussed. International networks and the signing of a partnership between Munich universities were also on the agenda. Over 200 leading researchers, practitioners and decision-makers from around the world attended page 30 the conference, organised jointly by SCE, MUAS and CeTIM, the Center for Technology and Innovation Management. “We are very pleased at jointly hosting this year‘s ICE conference, and that the theme, “Innovation Through Entrepreneurial Collaboration and Partnerships” was well-received,” said co-host and SCE Executive Director Prof. Klaus Sailer. “ICE is a terrific forum for sharing the latest research findings in the fields of innovation and technology management. It also offers international networking opportunities at the highest level. Because of its design, the conference represents another step in the process of internationally anchoring our Munich research network”. Dieter Reiter, Chief of the City of Munich‘s Bureau of Commerce and Labour, welcomed guests in the historic ballroom in the Old City Hall at the official reception given by the City of Munich. Support for the conference was also provided by the two major international technology management associations IEEE and IAMOT, whose chairmen Luke Maki and Dr. Tarek Khalil greeted attendees as well.
Entrepreneurship – two-pronged: Bundeswehr University and MUAS sign cooperation agreement On 19 June, Bundeswehr University (UniBW) and MUAS – and their respective entrepreneurship Centers SCE and the Center for Technology and Innovation Management (CeTIM) – signed a cooperation agreement at a networking dinner. These four institutions agreed to further intensify their already long-standing cooperation within the framework of the 4Entrepreneurship initiative between Munich‘s four universities. The cooperation is aimed at improving mutual access to the institutions‘ respective research and entrepreneurship networks and at establishing a Center of Excellence for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship in the Munich region. SCE and CeTIM have already been working closely together with the entrepreneurship Centers at Ludwig-Maximilian University (LMU EC) and TUM (UnternehmerTUM) under the 4Entrepreneurship initiative, and jointly running the Social Entrepreneurship page 31 Academy (www.seakademie.de). UniBW / CeTIM and MUAS / SCE are also research partners, and run the NITIM joint doctoral programme. The conference ended with a policy dialogue on the topic of “Innovation Ecosystems and their Future”. Attendees and prominent speakers from organisations including the OECD and European Commission discussed current issues and the future of innovation and entrepreneurship. The 19th annual ICE Conference 2013 will be held in The Hague from 24 to 26 June, with MUAS and SCE attending as guests this time. RESEARCH
