2B HERALD TIMES Thursday, September 26, 1985 Granger Engineering I has high tech capability GAYLORD — Granger Engineering has been providing engineering and surveying service for municipalities, corporations, developers and contractors for a dozen years. Granger Engineering operates offices in Gaylord and Cadillac. "With our capabilities in land surveying, water and wastewater systems, structural engineering, transportation engineering, field construction services, roads and bridges, materials testing, and more, we offer our clients the simplicity and efficiency that results from dealing with a single source for their engineering services," said Richard T. Beaupre, manager of the Gaylord office. In addition to staff expansion, the company has also acquired a high tech survey machine called Total Station. Beaupre said the new machine has enabled the company to perform more efficient and accurate surveys. 'Traditional surveying services provided by Granger have been strengthened and expanded through our purchase of the Total Station." Beaupre said. He said the machine provides for the elimination of tape measuring, automatic slope measuring and computer generated drawings of surveys. The Gaylord staff, including engineers, technicians, surveyors and support personnel, has been expanded to 15 persons. Beaupre, who joined the staff last year, has 11 years of expenence as a consulting engineer. He is a graduate of Michigan Technological University. Other engineers on the staff are: • Iawrence M. Fox, who is a graduate of Michigan Technological University He joined the firm in 1985 • David L. Timmer. who is a graduate of Michigan Technological University. He joined the staff in 1984. • Thomas M Grant, who is a graduate of University of Michigan. He joined the firm last year. • John Minnett, who is a graduate of Michigan State University. He joined the firm in 1985. Jayne A. Turk, a technician, joined the staff in January. A graduate of Ferris State College, she is responsible for drafting engineering and architectural projects performed by the firm Gaylord Lumber to remodel GAYLORD — Gaylord Lumber will be remodeled after the first of the year, according to Bill Engle. Engle, a part owner of the business who also serves as manager and treasurer, said that improvements will be made to add more display area and to enhance the store's appearance. Gaylord Lumber has seen good increases in business and good growth, Engle said. He noted that lower interest rates and faith in the economy have caused an increase in construction. "People are,sticking their necks out and building," Engle noted. The business, located next to the railroad tracks at 344 W. Main, was established in 1915. Engle is in partnership with his father, U'wis,—who K president; and Harry Maybanks, an Indian River resident. Gaylord Lumber employs 11 people and there is a branch of the company in Indian River.
