Some final clean up in the sump area was also conducted. The employees
wore Level C with a full face respirator for this activity. The OVA
readings were as follows:

During the day, it became necessary for an employee to enter the open tank
to shovel the residual sludge into the backhoe bucket. Confined Space
Entry procedures were utilized for this activity. The employee entering
the tank wore an airline respirator with an escape bottle, saranex suit,
rubber boots, chemical-resistant gloves (inner and outer), and a safety
harness with a safety line attached. A stand-by observer was equipped with
a SCBA, saranex suit, rubber boots, and chemical-resistant gloves (inner
and outer). The OVA was re-cal i brated and the background established at
0.8 ppm. The OVA readings obtained were as follows:

After lunch, cleaning inside the tank continued with the same level of
protection as noted above. Upon completion of the sludge removal, the
inside of the tank was steam-cleaned. The OVA was re-calibrated and the
background established at 2.0 ppm. The OVA readings were as follows:
