Nate Spears replaces Drew Sutton as Boston's 25th man du jour. Signed as a minor league free agent in<br />
December ’09, Spears spent nine seasons in <strong>the</strong> minors before earning his first big league callup this<br />
September. A true utility man, he played 10 or more <strong>game</strong>s for Triple-A Pawtucket at second base, third base,<br />
left field and right field, while batting .248/.355/.397 in 315 at-bats. The Orioles selected Spears in <strong>the</strong> fifth round<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ’03 draft and traded him to <strong>the</strong> Cubs for Corey Patterson in January ’06.<br />

Considered a defensive specialist, his at-bats will likely be limited. The White Sox signed him in January 2006<br />
out <strong>of</strong> Venezuela. He was ranked by BA as <strong>the</strong> #5 prospect and <strong>the</strong> best defensive infielder in <strong>the</strong> White Sox’<br />
system entering <strong>the</strong> season.<br />
This will be <strong>the</strong> first big-league go-around for <strong>the</strong> Australian-born Lindsay. He put up solid numbers in 70 1/3<br />
innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season, turning in a 2.18 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 90/59 K/BB ratio.<br />
White Sox purchased <strong>the</strong> contract <strong>of</strong> RHP Addison Reed from Triple-A Charlotte. A third-round pick just last<br />
year, Reed cruised through <strong>the</strong> White Sox minor-league system this summer, posting a 1.26 ERA, microscopic<br />
0.73 WHIP and eye-popping 111/14 K/BB ratio in 78 1/3 innings across four levels <strong>of</strong> play. He could play a big<br />
role out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> White Sox bullpen down <strong>the</strong> stretch, will have a good chance at making <strong>the</strong> team out <strong>of</strong> spring<br />
training next March.<br />
