of increasing financial service coverage in the ADAM municipalities in an efficient and low-cost
manner.
iv. CERTIFICATION OF ORGANIC PRODUCTS
The MIDAS consulting team jointly with the ADAM technical team held an initial meeting with
the implementers of coffee activities in the department of Cauca, where an agreement was
reached on a work plan for the next few months. The plan consists of: i) training the technical
teams of the implementers to improve their knowledge about the certification process, and ii)
selecting 25 farms where the certification process is to be launched to introduce the farmers to the
topic. A meeting was also held with the implementers of the coffee activities to analyze the
possibility of creating a coordinated marketing strategy for the grain.
In the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between USAID and the DNP,
assistance was established for four ADAM municipalities to apply the methodology developed by
the DNP-SINERGIA plan for the evaluation of public management by results. The MIDAS team
(Fedesarrollo) with ADAM reached an agreement for the exercise and a first approach to the
municipalities. The activities involving the preparation of databases for the municipalities and
the agreements with the local authorities will be performed in the second half of 2006.
