Spring Break in The Bahamas
It’s that time of the year for the Tallent family vacation to Atlantis
in the Bahamas. With my extra winter weight still on, I ditched
my leggings, sweaters, and Uggs and squeezed into my summer
wardrobe. Before all the new traveling regulations, I tended to
over-pack. But now, in keeping the weight of the suitcase under
forty pounds, I have to downsize and pack just what I need. There
is no reason to spend more money to bring more crap that you
won’t need. And you don’t want to be one of those annoying
people in the airport holding up the line trying to swap their
belongings into another bag to keep from paying an extra fee.
So with our mug shot photo passports and forty pound bags, we
board the plane and head to
paradise.
Atlantis is the ultimate
family vacation hot spot.
There is so much to do for
all ages, and the fact that
there aren’t obese people
wearing Pooh on their
shirt and walking around
eating turkey legs is an
added bonus. The weather
is perfect so we suit-up and
head to the pool. Of course,
the first thing I do is stand
next to different women and

three sons and five dogs.
Although she graduated
with an education degree,
she had more interest in
fashion and decided to
force my husband to tell me who has a better body. I do a hundred
squats a day so I can ask my husband, “Whose butt is higher?”
Although there are palm trees everywhere, the pool looks more
like a baseball field. Every other woman had enormous implants
that looked like they had baseballs popping out of their chests. It
actually looked painful. These women were desperately trying to
compete with their younger, better looking daughters. However,
you can only escape aging to a point. You may have nipples that
point to your chin, but the age spots and wrinkles give it away.
I’m really not one to judge though. I got my belly button pierced
as an incentive to lose weight, but in reality it just accentuates
my stretch marks from my 100 pound weight gain from my
pregnancies. So I basically look like I’m trying to be 16, but have
the battle scars of child birth.
Atlantis attracts people from all over the world and it was nice

to see a common theme in the fashion. There was a lot of color
and patterns in the bathing suits and cover-ups. The chevron,
floral, stripe, and polka dot print were all very popular. Solid red
and solid blue suits were in style as well and looked really classic.
Fringe was everywhere and I loved it. The movement of the strings
adds an extra bit of sexiness to the bathing suits. Also, I was very
pleased to see that neon colors are back again. Let’s just hope the
feathered high bangs and Z Cavariccis don’t make a comeback!
The only difference I saw between American and European women
was that the European women wore thong bottoms. But who am
I kidding? If I had a butt like them, I’d be wearing a thong too.

Vacation is a time where
it’s alright for men to wear
their Hawaiian double
pocket shirts and polos
with the collars up. A time
to drink cocktails and
strawberry daiquiris all day
long by the pool. There
are no calories at the breakfast buffet and charging things to the
room is like playing with Monopoly money. However, doing the
Harlem Shake wasted by the pool is never acceptable. That would
make you a hot mess no matter where you are!!
I am very fortunate that I was able to spend spring break in the
Bahamas with my family. Each one of my sons conquered a fear
that they had last year. Although some days their fighting made
me feel like I lost 10 years off my life, the memories we made were
worth it! Looking forward to Atlantis 2014! Xoxo
