At this outcrop (see p. 7 for locati<strong>on</strong>), the ‘C<strong>on</strong>glomerat principal' can be seen resting directly <strong>on</strong> the<br />

practically unweathered Varican basement (migmatites). It is overlain by the ‘Z<strong>on</strong>e limite violette’ (ZLV)<br />

Formati<strong>on</strong> (Fig. I.1, 15, 16, 17) which is characterized by the first development <strong>of</strong> <strong>Triassic</strong> palaeosols, here<br />

with development <strong>of</strong> dolomite nodules and chalced<strong>on</strong>ic crust (carnelian).<br />
