This outcrop (Fig. 18) is attributed to the restricted marine envir<strong>on</strong>ment <strong>of</strong> the ‘Dolomie inférieure’ <strong>of</strong><br />
the Lettenkhole. In this area (south <strong>of</strong> Vittel), its lower boundary becomes difficult to place owing to a<br />
progressive dolomitizati<strong>on</strong> affecting finally, to the south (towards Burgundy) the whole 'Muschelkalk<br />
supérieur' (Fig. 19).<br />
