Describe the significance of the project. What is the significance/purpose of the study? (Please provide a brief 1-2 paragraph explanation in lay terms.) The eXtension Initiative is a public website (www.extension.org) developed by members of the national Cooperative Extension System. The purpose of the website is to provide information and educational materials to members of the general population to help them improve their lives. Information and educational materials are developed by collaborative groups of Extension professionals from across the nation called Communities of Practice (CoP). CoP’s develop information and educational materials in specific content areas (e.g., Horses, Financial Security, Wildlife Damage Assessment, Fire Ants, etc.). The intent of the information and educational materials is to assist users in acquiring new information to ultimately change their behaviors and solve problems in the particular content area. To evaluate knowledge acquisition and behavior change, CoP’s will use online surveys of participants. 2. Describe the methods and procedures. Describe the data collection procedures and what participants will have to do.
