(FTI) in 2006, Senegal has fixed the achievement of universal<br />

provision of good quality primary education by 2015 as its<br />

main priority for the education sector<br />

The school Sédhiou<br />

In Sédhiou we find:<br />

• Nursery schools: three public schools and one private<br />

Catholic school. There is also the “Case de tous petits”, a<br />

special institute created in the frame of a National Program<br />

aimed at developing knowledge of the French language<br />

already in the pre-school age.<br />

• Elementary schools: eight public schools, a private<br />

Catholic institution and a private Franco-Arab centre.<br />

• Collèges: three public and two private institutes.<br />

• High School: one public school<br />

• Secondary technical schools: technical center for<br />

women. Here they teach basic cooking and sewing.<br />

• Universities: there is no university in the whole region.<br />

We must move up to Ziguinchor, or in the north of the<br />

Country (Dakar, Thiess, S. Luis, etc ...).<br />

Within this framework we should notice that the offer is<br />

grossly inadequate to cover the demand for education. Just<br />

one data to clarify this reality. The lyceum is the only high<br />

school institute in the whole department of Sédhiou, if you do<br />

not consider the women's center. In 2010, students who took<br />

the exams for their BAFM (patent graduation means) are<br />
