Glands between aU pairs of lfts; lfts 4-8 pairs, the distal pair 12-30 mm, the<br />

margin revolute; upper face of lfts simply penniveined or almost veinless, reticula­<br />

tion obscure or 0; filaments of 3 abaxial stamens 2-2.7 mm, the anthers 3.2-4<br />

mm; ovary strigulose; style ±1 mm.—Collections: 10.<br />

Open rocky places in cool woodland or montane campo, 1200-2600 m, local<br />

on the Atlantic slope of s.-e. BrazU, from Sa. de Caparao on the Minas<br />

Gerais-Espirito Santo border s.-e. to Sa. dos Orgaos in Rio de Janeiro.—Fl. I-IV.<br />

104b. Senna organensis (Harms) var. heterandra Irwin & Barneby, var. nov.,<br />

quoad folia cum var. organensi congrua sed ab ea staminibus fertilibus<br />

eximie dimorphis, abaxialibus tribus mediana simul longe superantibus<br />

ac hs longioribus, antheris suis 5-7 (nee 3.2^) mm longis diversa.—<br />

BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro (?): Baum in Waldchen, 1800 m, 2.1.1896 (fl),<br />

Ule 3708.—\lolotypus, HBG = <strong>NY</strong> Neg. 9686.<br />

Lvs of var. organensis, but a gland between proximal pair of lfts only; stamens<br />

strongly heteromorphic, the filaments of 4 median stamens ±2.5 mm, of 3 abaxial<br />

ones 4.5-5.5 mm, the anthers of 4 median stamens 3.8-4.5 mm, of 3 abaxial ones<br />

5-7 mm.—Collections: 3.<br />

Woodland at 1800 m, known certainly only from Mt. Itatiaia in w. Rio de<br />

Janeiro.<br />

The typus and two other known collections of var. heterandra are in flower<br />

only, but resemble var. organensis at so many points that we have httle doubt<br />

as to their affinity. For the present the more highly differentiated androecium<br />

appears adequately distinctive.<br />

var. Jorganensi foliolis minus numerosis 3-5 (nee 4-8)-jugis utrinque<br />

reticulatis, glandula singula inter imum foholomm par ovarioque gla­<br />

This variety, fully disjunct from the rest of the species, is distinguished from<br />
