Preparation for Test Workgroup1 – PC1<br />
On PC1<br />
establish two telnet sessions running in different windows to router<br />
R1<br />
1. telnet session:<br />
login and enter enable mode<br />
!!! record output to text-file -> r1_rip_test.txt !!!<br />
periodically do:<br />
# sh clock, sh ip route, sh ip route 20.20.78.0<br />
2. telnet session:<br />
login and enter enable mode<br />
extended ping to 20.20.78.7 count 100000<br />
Start Ethereal with Capture Filter for RIPv2<br />
log with time of day -> view -> time display format -> time of day<br />
create capture filter RIPv2 -> host 224.0.0.9<br />
after capturing save it on desktop to file -> rip_convergence_test_r1<br />

terminal monitor (to direct console debugging output to telnet session)<br />
# debug ip routing<br />
Start Ethereal with Capture Filter for RIP<br />
log with time of day -> view -> time display format -> time of day<br />
create capture filter RIPv2 -> host 224.0.0.9<br />
after capturing save it on desktop to file -> rip_convergence_test_r2<br />
