Financial Discipleship Team, 2013
As a newly formed team in the Christian Formation ministry of the Connectional Table, the
Financial Discipleship Team is here to promote effective financial discipleship in our churches,
ministries, and individuals across the North Carolina Conference. This includes the promotion
of qualities like good stewardship and extravagant generosity.
Our primary ministry event was the New Clergy Stewardship Training held March 10 through 12
at Conference-related Camp Rockfish. Lauralee Bailey, Hannah McManus and LaNella Smith
did wonderful work as co-deans of this event. Several pastors, financial experts, and United
Methodist Foundation staff gave presentations and were on-hand for the event.
Our team is currently in the visioning process for other ways to promote effective financial
discipleship in our churches, ministries, and individuals across our conference. We even have a
few vacancies on our team and recommend that interested persons contact the Nominations
Committee if they would like to serve.
We are very thankful for the work of Christine Harmon (Christian Formation Team Coordinator)
and Robin Harry (Administrative Assistant). We are also blessed to be in partnership with The
United Methodist Foundation and staff: Lynn James, Rev. Reggie Ponder, and Lauralee Bailey.
Respectfully submitted by Rev. Taylor Mills, Team President
