<strong>Academic</strong> Advisement<br />
<strong>Mt</strong>. <strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>College</strong> maintains a staff of professionals to meet student needs. The Student Services Department includes<br />
dedicated <strong>Academic</strong> Advisors who are ready to answer questions, offer solutions, and address concerns. If they don’t have<br />
an answer, they will be able to find the individual who does.The following areas are their special concern: schedules and<br />
registration, academic progress, tutoring, and attendance.<br />
The <strong>Academic</strong> Advisors are deeply committed to all students’ academic success. Students are encouraged to bring concerns<br />
and complaints about academic issues or general college issues to the <strong>Academic</strong> Advisors. Please note: the <strong>Academic</strong><br />
Advisors cannot advise students about issues related to Student Finance. Any questions in this area should be addressed<br />
to the trained staff in that department.<br />
The Registrar and Department Chairpersons provide service to students as well. The Registrar closely monitors the academic<br />
progress of each student and enforces the <strong>College</strong>’s policies on Satisfactory <strong>Academic</strong> Progress (SAP). Arrangements may<br />
be made with the Department Chairs via the <strong>Mt</strong>. <strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>College</strong> Student Portal to meet on a weekly basis to review academic<br />
progression.<br />
Student Success<br />
<strong>College</strong> can get tough, and when it does the wise student finds a tutor. Tutors are provided by the <strong>College</strong> at no charge to<br />
the student. <strong>Mt</strong>. <strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>College</strong> offers peer tutoring as well as tutoring by experienced faculty.<br />
The Department Chairpersons and instructors are another valuable resource for academic support. Students are urged to let<br />
their instructors know promptly if they are having difficulty with course material. Faculty frequently schedule free workshops<br />
for the more challenging courses.<br />
The Student Services staff is also dedicated to enhancing the college experience through student-led clubs, special events,<br />
and leadership development opportunities. Students interested in learning about opportunities that exist on campus, or who<br />
have suggestions of their own, should stop by Student Services.<br />
