EUTELSAT W2A<br />

This new EUTELSAT Satellite will be positioned<br />

at 10 EAST and replace EUTELSAT W1. This Satellite<br />

carries 46 Ku and 10 C band transponders<br />

and 1 S band. Manufactured by Alcatel and<br />

based on a 4000C4 platform, this <strong>satellite</strong> will<br />

cover Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.<br />

A second fixed beam will serve southern Africa<br />

and Indian Ocean islands. The C-band mission<br />

will provide pan-African coverage for broadband<br />

and telecommunications services.<br />

This <strong>satellite</strong> is also a special joint venture with<br />

ASTRA, The S-band (2.0 and 2.2 GHz), which represents<br />

a new frequency band for both SES and<br />

Eutelsat, provides a set of frequencies optimized<br />

for supporting a wireless distribution network<br />

for delivering video and other services to mobile<br />

devices, including phones.<br />

This <strong>satellite</strong> is base on a Boeing Satellite system platform called 601HP, located at 107.7 EAST, this<br />

<strong>satellite</strong> will replace CAKRAWARTA. The <strong>satellite</strong> is build with 24 KU transponders to cover Philippines,<br />

India and Indonesia, and 10 S transponders to cover Indonesia. Launched with a Proton M<br />

vehicle, the <strong>satellite</strong> will be in the air for 15 years.
