The original Motorama Corvette ended up in the hands of Russell Sanders, who at that time was in
charge of GM’s Experimental Division. Sanders drove the car for a few years and then sold it to Jack
Engle for $1,000 in 1959. Engle retained possession of EX-122 through the next four decades until his
death in 2001.
George Kerbeck, owner of Kerbeck Chevrolet bought the car and provided a no-expenses-spared
restoration to bring the car back to its original Motorama specs as possible, minus the Blue Flame engine.
When not on the show circuit, it can be seen at Kerbeck Corvette in Atlantic City.
Nearly 2 million Corvettes have been sold since it went on sale in 1953 and Corvette is the longestrunning,
continually produced sports car in the world.
Is this the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible?
Now that we’ve witnessed the reveal of the 2014
Corvette Stingray Coupe on 1.13.13 and soaked up a
few days of being around the new Corvette at NAIAS,
attention is turning once again to “future products”,
most namely, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible.
The Auto Insider published these photos of what may
or may not be the Stingray Convertible and now
Chevrolet has issued several denials.
The images were posted originally by scale model
maker Maisto, whose website is featuring the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe. Images of the convertible
model are no longer available.
Michael Albano, Chevy’s Director of Communications told Jalopnik that these are “not” photos of the
new convertible model.
Corvette spokesperson Monte Doran gave an even more interesting answer to Popular Mechanics when
he didn’t deny the photo was a fake and instead saying that this was not an “official” photo released by
Chevrolet:
“What I can tell you is these are not official images released by Chevrolet PR. There’s a lot of speculation
out there about what the convertible might look like, but you’ll just have to wait until we release our own
images to see how close these might be.”
The 2014 Corvette Stingray Says Good Morning on the Today Show
After a busy couple of days in Detroit, the Torch
Red 2014 Corvette Stingray made its way
eastward to New York on Tuesday morning for a
guest appearance on NBC’s Today show. The
Stingray and Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter both
braved wet weather as the new car got yet another
introduction.
