Results from a reconnaissance scale heavy mineral survey of kimberlitic indicator minerals in eastern Finland
Abstract
In 2001- 2005 GTK conducted a reconnaissance scale heavy mineral survey of till in a diamond prospective area
in eastern Finland. The survey comprised nearly 500 roadside sampling sites, in an area where there were no ongoing
diamond exploration at the time of the sampling. All samples were taken using excavator and most of the samples
represent basal till. GTK was responsible for conducting the sampling, processing, mineral observing, analyses
and interpretation of the results. The data published in this report includes sampling sites and recovered indicator
minerals shown on road maps, and electron microprobe analyses and compositional discrimination diagrams of
the indicators.
