“The mission of the Commission shall be to undertake preventive as well as criminal<br />

investigation actions into crimes of corruption in any if its forms, including embezzlement, abuse<br />

of power, influence peddling and economic involvement in business, such as defined in penal<br />

legislation.”<br />

MAIN MANDATE / COMPETENCIES<br />

“1. On matters of criminal prevention, the Commission shall have the following competences:<br />

a) To collect and analyse intelligence relating to the causes and prevention of<br />

corruption;<br />

b) To undertake sensitization activities aimed at limiting the practice of acts of<br />

corruption, motivating people to adopt precautions or to reduce the acts and the<br />

situations that facilitate the occurrence of criminal conducts;<br />

c) To advise any institution or public entity on forms of preventing and fighting<br />

corruption conducts.<br />

2. On matters of criminal investigation, the Commission shall have competence to exercise the<br />

powers conferred to the organs of criminal police pursuant to the law, namely:<br />
