<strong>Community</strong> liaison; Randy Miller, Principal; Diane Torres, Assistant Principal; Jessica Vidal, Assistant<br />

Introductions<br />

Ann Allred, Sherry Baugh, and Brad Nauman were formally excused from the SCC meeting due<br />

to after school tutoring with students. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.<br />

Continuation of <strong>School</strong> Improvement Plan Discussions<br />

Principal Miller will complete the school improvement plan over the next several weeks. As he<br />

completes portions of the plans, he will send the plan to parents for feedback. Principal Miller<br />

reminded the SCC that he emailed the plan template and data to the committee members. He<br />

asked if any members had questions, thoughts, or comments.<br />

What does Analysis of Teacher Effectiveness mean?<br />

o Principal Miller explained how the assessment department determined teacher<br />

effectiveness and further explained the SLCSD’s new student growth model.<br />

A new question will be included in school improvement plan district-wide. The question<br />

will ask how the needs of high achieving students are met.<br />

Parent Involvement Policy and <strong>School</strong>/Parent Compact<br />

The SCC reviewed the compact template provided by Jessica Vidal. The following questions and<br />

concerns were addressed:<br />

A parent stated that more support was needed regarding attending conferences. More<br />

regular meetings between parents and teachers were requested. Principal Miller<br />

explained that the school has two set conference times during the school year and<br />

parents can make appointments with teachers as needed.<br />

A parent addressed a need for students to have a stable environment and asked if this<br />

could be included in the compact. Can we add healthy eating habits to the compact?<br />

Jessica stated she will provided examples for the parent portion of the compact.<br />

A completed, SCC-approved compact is due to the district Title I office by March 5 th .<br />

Other Items<br />

Principal Miller explained that an online scheduling program is available for purchase to enable<br />

parents to schedule conferences online. This would help parents with multiple children and<br />

those who would like to choose a time convenient for their family. The cost is approximately<br />

$200.


Can a computer be available for parents who may not have internet access at home?<br />

How will families register if their primary language is one other than English?<br />

Principal Miller asked that at conferences, teachers tally how many parents would be interested<br />

in this service to assess parent interest and ability of use.<br />

Meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m.<br />
