ii. This Government has already constituted a Price<br />
Stabilisation Fund of Rs.50 crores for procuring and<br />
distributing essential commodities at cost price in<br />
emergent situations. This Government will increase<br />
the size of this fund to Rs.100 crores.<br />
iii. This Government will also off-load one lakh MT of<br />
rice in the open market for sales at Rs.20 per kg<br />
through Amudham, the co-operatives and special<br />
outlets to control the price of rice.<br />
iv. To control vegetable prices, farm fresh consumer<br />
outlets will be opened in urban areas by the<br />
co-operatives and the Horticulture Department,<br />
linking farmers to consumers directly.<br />
IRRIGATION<br />
56. Tamil Nadu, being a lower riparian State, needs a<br />
comprehensive strategy for the conservation of both surface<br />
and ground water resources. Considering the importance of<br />
irrigation for the State's agriculture, a substantial allocation of<br />
Rs.3,3<strong>14</strong>.50 crores has been made in the Budget Estimates<br />
<strong>2013</strong>-20<strong>14</strong>.<br />
57. Having got the final order of the Cauvery Water<br />
Disputes Tribunal notified, this Government is now taking<br />
immediate steps to have the Cauvery Management Board and<br />
the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee constituted. This<br />
Government has moved the Supreme Court in this regard on<br />
18.3.<strong>2013</strong> praying for a direction to the Central Government
