height only, is available via the A737, B789 and B790 through Houston.<br />

The B789 includes sections of 5.5 metre carriageway and all reasonable<br />

endeavours will be used to ensure that measures are taken to minimise<br />

disruption to the general public using the Low Bridge Avoidance Route.<br />

Movement of vehicles on the Low Bridge Avoidance Route will be planned in<br />

advance as far as is reasonably practicable by <strong>BAE</strong> Systems and its<br />

contractors and agreed with the Council as necessary including the temporary<br />

closure of all or part of the Low Bridge Avoidance Route.<br />

This route transits a residential area and movements of extraordinary loads is<br />

restricted and should be planned to transit Houston outside of the following<br />

hours<br />

Mon – Friday 8am to 10am<br />

Mon – Friday 2pm to 7pm<br />

Saturday 8am to 7pm<br />

Sunday 8am to 7pm<br />

And in all cases 11pm to 6am<br />

A route plan is incorporated in appendix H as the low bridge avoidance route.<br />

All loads within the limits of the B790 height restriction must use the<br />

default route via the A726.<br />

These routes will be incorporated in contract documentation and will form the<br />

basis of a Vehicle Route <strong>Plan</strong>ning Agreement between <strong>BAE</strong> Systems Plc and<br />

Renfrewshire Council.<br />

A secondary access is available for the Northern Access Road Site only via<br />

Junction 31 of the M8 via the A8. All traffic with this destination must use this<br />

route.<br />

Emergency Services will use whichever route is deemed suitable and are not<br />

excluded from Houston or Bishopton at any time<br />

A diagram showing these primary routes is included in Appendix H.<br />

<strong>BAE</strong> Systems have entered into a maintenance agreement with Renfrewshire<br />

Council to specifically address Condition 09/0456/PP No14. This seeks to<br />

mitigate any perceived difficulties around surveying, investigation and<br />

apportionment of extraordinarly road maintenance issues arising from the<br />

development works. A copy of this agreement is contained within appendix I<br />

5.4 Monitoring & Enforcement<br />

Signage will be placed around Bishopton Village with contact numbers (incl. a<br />

general freephone enquiry line) advising concerned members of the public to<br />

report any heavy construction vehicle (Class C and above) sighted within the<br />

Bishopton Village exclusion zone. <strong>BAE</strong> Systems Plc will then investigate any<br />

sightings and take appropriate action as follows: -<br />
