from the east and south without increasing traffic through Bishopton Village<br />

itself.<br />

The southern access road will comprise a new 7.3m wide carriageway on a<br />

raised embankment crossing the main Glasgow to Gourock electrified railway<br />

line and will thus include a 50m span road bridge. It will also incorporate<br />

pavements and cycle lanes, street lighting where necessary, designed crossing<br />

points, utility zones and landscaping mounds.<br />

2.1.7 Northern Access Road<br />

Provision of a new access road to the North of the CDA connecting the CDA<br />

with the A8 North West of Bishopton Village allowing access to the<br />

development from the west and north without increasing traffic through<br />

Bishopton Village itself.<br />

2.1.8 SUDS Ponds<br />

Provision of a development wide Sustainable Urban Drainage System to<br />

manage surface water arising from the development within the existing water<br />

environment.<br />

2.1.9 Foul drainage infrastructure<br />

Provision of spine foul drainage including a series of pumping stations to<br />

provide a “bridge” between the new development sites and the existing<br />

drainage infrastructure and onward to Erskine Sewerage Treatment <strong>Plan</strong>t. The<br />

foul drainage will be taken to existing infrastructure to both North and South of<br />

the CDA.<br />

2.1.10Utility Services<br />

Provision of Spine utility infrastructure from the existing networks to provide<br />

connections through the site to each development plot. This will include power;<br />

water and telecom provision will be taken to existing infrastructure to both<br />

North and South of the CDA.<br />

2.1.11M8 Junction<br />

The final piece of infrastructure is the creation of a new half diamond Motorway<br />

Junction connecting the M8 with the A8 east of Bishopton and to the east of the<br />

new South Access Road. This junction is scheduled to commence during late<br />

2015. The M8 Junction will be subject to a separate <strong>Traffic</strong> <strong>Management</strong> <strong>Plan</strong><br />

developed to satisfy the requirements of the Trunk Road Operator, Transport<br />

Scotland and other stakeholders and is therefore not discussed here.<br />
