mosquensis STUCKENBERG. Similar cha<strong>et</strong><strong>et</strong>id biostromes are <strong>de</strong>scribed in similar stratigraphic levels in the<br />

Moscow region and the USA (WEST & CLARK 1984).<br />

An Upper Carboniferous (Gzhelian) bioherme was earlier <strong>de</strong>scribed in the same section. It is <strong>al</strong>g<strong>al</strong><br />

buildup up to 5,2 m in size that is associated with limestone О6 1 .<br />

Thus, our data show that the formation of buildups occurred at various stages during the <strong>de</strong>velopment<br />

of the Don<strong>et</strong>s p<strong>al</strong>eobasins. However, the compositions of bioconstructors have changed over time. In<br />

gener<strong>al</strong>, the appearance of the Carboniferous buildups in the Don<strong>et</strong>s Basin corresponds to the periods of<br />

maximum diversity of various marine organisms.<br />
