Addition<strong>al</strong>ly, geochemic<strong>al</strong> an<strong>al</strong>yses (δ 18 0, δ 13 C) were re<strong>al</strong>ized on oyster shells associated to the cor<strong>al</strong>s.<br />
The results indicate that the mean v<strong>al</strong>ues of p<strong>al</strong>eotemperatures were around 22°C and it represents optim<strong>al</strong><br />
temperatures for zooxanthellate cor<strong>al</strong>s. However, consi<strong>de</strong>ring the p<strong>al</strong>eoenvironment<strong>al</strong> conditions and the<br />
p<strong>al</strong>eoecologic<strong>al</strong> assemblage, the cor<strong>al</strong>s of the Isle of Skye are regar<strong>de</strong>d as having belonged to an extreme<br />
ecosystem.<br />
