Workshop update
Over 133 parents have attended
a series of nine workshops
running across the East Riding
since February.
Topics covered included sleep,
behaviour and preparing for transition.
The workshops were set up to provide
more support to parent carers in East
Riding. It was felt that providing workshops
on a regular basis would give parent carers
the opportunity to meet other people in
the same situation and discuss the issues
that were important to them.
The workshops took place in different areas
across the East Riding, with a range of
starting times to hopefully suit you.
The feedback we gained from the
workshops was very useful and positive.
One parent said “It was a very good
workshop, easy to make comments and feel
listened to”. Another said “I spoke to other
parent carers in the same situation and
realised I was not the only one suffering!”
From the feedback it has become clear that
there is a great need for regular workshops
with more information around dealing with
difficult behaviour.
“Really enjoyed the day,
brilliant chats and loads
of info to take back to
use.”
We will be running a series of workshops
in June, July and August.
Three will be based around behaviour and
building on what was discussed at the last
workshops. If you didn’t attend the last
behaviour workshop you will still be able to
attend this one.
Similarly if you attended the last behaviour
workshop the material covered in this one
will be different and hopefully be of benefit
to you.
We will also be providing workshops on
childcare choices for parent carers as well
as one based around healthy lifestyles for
the family. Please see opposite for a
table of date’s and venues for the
workshops.
Your feedback is very important in
shaping how the workshops run in the
future. We will be developing a workshop
around sexual health and also making the
preparing for transition workshop a yearly
event for people to attend.
If you have any comments or
queries regarding the workshops
please contact FISH (01482) 396469.
