“Beneath the Surface: Birthing Beauty”
Opening Reception: Friday, June 7, 6 to 9 p.m.; On display thru June 30
“Beneath the Surface” is a unique exhibition featuring Rebecca Darlington. Darlington
takes a peek through women to reveal the ideal representation of their lives
that they silently carry with them and hope to obtain. Her “Birthing Beauty” series
of clear cast resin bodices illustrates the theme of seeing beneath the surface of a
working woman to reveal the hidden wars of nurturing versus female sexuality
versus professional choices. She examines the long term impact the little choices in
this act of balancing make on our families and culture. Wardy presents his colorful
abstract works in gouache on paper and paintings in acrylic. His pieces create art
out of pure color, line, gesture, material and surface. Depth is created by the layers
upon layers of surfaces, texture and sheer brillance of color. The exhibition is on
view from June 7th through June 30th, with an artists reception on Friday, June
7th, from 6 to 9 PM. Gallery 66 NY is located at 66 Main Street, Cold Spring, NY.
