Crevasse splay units were found in the Late Maeotian deposits from Bizdidel<br />

River (Fig. 6.19) and in the Romanian deposits from the northern part of the Dacian<br />

Basin (Fig. 6.12 F).<br />

The affiliation of the fluvial clay sediments to the floodplain fluvial facies results<br />

from their association – in the sedimentary sequence – with sediments accumulated<br />

inside or on the edge of the fluvial channel. The following types of fluvial clay<br />

deposits were identified:<br />

■ stratified clay, often with silt laminae, which show they were deposited by a<br />

current loaded dominantly with clay material;<br />
