Crevasse splay units were found in the Late Maeotian deposits from Bizdidel
River (Fig. 6.19) and in the Romanian deposits from the northern part of the Dacian
Basin (Fig. 6.12 F).
The affiliation of the fluvial clay sediments to the floodplain fluvial facies results
from their association – in the sedimentary sequence – with sediments accumulated
inside or on the edge of the fluvial channel. The following types of fluvial clay
deposits were identified:
■ stratified clay, often with silt laminae, which show they were deposited by a
current loaded dominantly with clay material;
